- Photo: Special Arrangement India’s famous Sun God temple on Sunday (January 25, 2026) witnessed an unprecedented rush of devotees who came to Arasavilli in Srikakulam district to have darshan of the presiding deity Sri Surynarayana Swamy on the festival day of Ratha Saptami.
- There were serpentine queues of devotees for ‘sarva darshan’, ticket holders, and donors right from the early hours of Sunday (January 25).
- The devotees who waited for darshan from Saturday (January 24, 2026) night had a terrible time with jostling and stampede-like situations.
- Fortunately, there were no untoward incidents in spite of the jostling in the queue lines.
- Against this backdrop, the police department allowed pilgrims into the queue lines in a staggered manner to prevent stampedes in the queue lines.
