Phallon Tullis-Joyce was also called into action to make a stunning save just minutes later from close range versus Olivia Smith. The Gunners kept pushing for an opener, but Frida Maanum’s shot went wide and Alessia Russo was once again denied by an in-form Tullis-Joyce. Second halfUnited responded in the second half and came out with more attacking intent. Melvine Malard had a long-range effort, but the Frenchwoman’s shot curled just wide of the post. Nonetheless, any momentum United were trying to build was halted when Jayde Riviere received a red card for a second yellow offence on 65 minutes. Arsenal piled on the pressure in search of a winner, but United’s defence continued to stand their ground. First, Stina Blackstenius had an effort that was expertly blocked by Dominique Janssen, and Tullis-Joyce made a strong stop to deny Caitlin Foord from distance. The American keeper once again showed her value to the team, making a low stop to deny Victoria Pelova a match-winning moment. Marc Skinner will be pleased that his side managed to hold on for a draw at the home of the European champions.
