BHP’s Blackston says he’s ‘no longer the head football coach’ there

Russell Blackston told 7 News Sports Wednesday night that “he is no longer the head football coach at BHP.”AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementHe did not provide further details, although he indicates he will teach for the remainder of the school year. Blackston has led BHP the past 16 seasons, taking his team to a 14-1 finish and second straight trip to the 3A state championship game earlier this month. His overall record at the Anderson County school is 147-45 record. His past four teams went 50-6. Seven of his teams recorded between 10 and 14 wins in a season. He was elevated to head coach after serving as an assistant at the school under Wayne Green and was on the staff for the 2004 3A state title, BHP’s lone football state championship.
