Centre praises blindness control programme in A.P.

Key Highlights

• It said that Andhra Pradesh had emerged as a role model for other States.
• The statement said the Centre has announced that it will soon issue guidelines to replicate Andhra Pradesh’s best practices in other States.
• In this context, the annual target for spectacle distribution allotted to Andhra Pradesh for the 2026–27 academic year has been increased from 90,000 to 2.50 lakh.
• Minister for Medical and Health Satya Kumar Yadav congratulated the officials for the recognition.
• As part of the National Programme for Control of Blindness, free eye examinations are being conducted for government school students and spectacles are being distributed to the needy.
