Story byTodd Brock, Cowboys WireSun, January 11, 2026 at 11:43 AM UTC·2 min readThe Cowboys played their final game of the 2025 season last Sunday, the players have had their exit interviews, and their offseason has begun. But the bill for Week 18 just arrived for two of them. Safety Donovan Wilson and defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku have been fined by the league for actions taken during the Cowboys' 34-17 loss to the Giants, with both defenders incurring five-digit financial hits to close out the regular season. It happened early in the second quarter, when Wilson was credited with making the tackle on Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart after an 8-yard run in the red zone. Further review after the game determined that Wilson improperly led with his helmet, even though no penalty was called nor mention made by announcers in real time. In fact, the only reference to the tackle was from Fox's Daryl Johnston, with the ex-Cowboy admonishing Dart for not avoiding a "huge hit," calling it one "he does not need to take."The fine was Wilson's second on the year; he was tagged for the same amount, also for illegal use of the helmet, in Week 7 versus Washington. Ezeiruaku's misdeed was more obvious, the one that got him ejected from the game. After the Giants' third-quarter touchdown pass to Tyrone Tracy, a fight broke out involving players from both teams.
