The decision seems pretty straightforward. All NFL draft picks earn a four-year rookie deal, but for first-round draft picks, teams have the option to tack on a fifth year of team control. The contract value amount for that season is based on the player's position, their playing time through three seasons, and if they've earned any Pro Bowl nods. These decisions have to be made prior to the player's fourth NFL season. So all first-round picks from the 2023 NFL draft are eligible this year to have their option picked up.
