Delhi water minister orders strict checks to prevent drinking water contamination

• As per the directions, DJB has been asked to increase inspections of all water supply pipelines, especially in areas where drinking water lines run close to sewer lines.
• The aim is to quickly detect and repair leaks, damages, or any possible points of cross-contamination.
• The minister has also instructed DJB to strengthen continuous water quality monitoring at water treatment plants, distribution zones, and at consumer ends through frequent sampling and testing.
• Officials have been directed to ensure prompt action on public complaints related to water quality, including issues of odour, taste, or discoloration.
