With both teams featuring elite defenses, both offenses struggled to gain any footing against one another in the opening half. In the end, it would be Buford coming away with the state title in hand and some folks minds, a de facto national championship as well. AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementGeorgia signee Tyriq Green accounted for two rushing touchdowns as the future Bulldog lifted Buford to a 28-21 victory over Carrollton for the 6A title at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Carrollton freshman running back Nick Archer said the only points of the first half as the tailback scored on a 1-yard on a fourth down in the second quarter. Both teams had a hard time figuring one another’s secondary, with each side coughing up the ball via interceptions. The Trojans took a 7-0 lead into halftime. It was the second half where all the scoring would take place as the two teams would combine for 42 total points, the final touchdown coming on a 82-yard Green run.
