India-EU aviation cooperation set to soar with new green, safety initiatives

Key Highlights

• Highlighting safety as a priority, Minister Naidu noted that India is taking further steps to strengthen aviation safety standards.
• The EU and India will boost collaboration between the European union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in areas including coordination, joint certification, cybersecurity, and drone regulation, which is expected to raise safety benchmarks in the Indian aviation sector to new heights.
• An action plan was also outlined to accelerate progress in airport infrastructure, digital transformation, and sustainable development, which is expected to generate employment opportunities and attract global investment in India’s aviation sector.
• In addition, several new initiatives were announced, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between EASA and DGCA, the creation of joint working groups, and the launch of technology transfer programs.
• These initiatives will align with government schemes such as UDAN, further integrating India’s aviation sector into global markets.
