India, US look to deepen strategic ties in advanced biomanufacturing: Jitendra Singh

• He added that science, technology and biotechnology remain key pillars of the India–US comprehensive strategic partnership.
• Citing “strong potential” for collaboration in advanced biomanufacturing, the minister proposed joint development of affordable biologics, biosimilars, and vaccines to meet global health needs, leveraging India’s cost-efficient manufacturing capabilities and Delaware’s proximity to major US pharmaceutical companies.
• The minister also emphasised expanding research collaboration between Indian institutions and Delaware research centres, along with startup and incubation linkages and joint workforce training in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), regulatory science and quality systems.
• He identified cooperation in regulatory science, standards alignment and resilient supply chains for critical biopharmaceutical inputs as another priority area.
• Singh noted that the Centre’s Rs 1 lakh crore research, development and innovation fund could be leveraged to deepen engagement with Delaware’s research, manufacturing and startup ecosystem.
