New Delhi: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Station Frazerganj successfully apprehended an Indian fishing boat involved in suspected trans-border smuggling during a swift operation carried out on 22 January 2026 in the Bay of Bengal. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, an ICG boarding team was immediately deployed to the reported location, where an abandoned Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Laxminarayan was located and secured. A thorough search of the vessel led to the recovery of 52 bags of betel nuts, each weighing 50 kg, amounting to a total seizure of approximately 2,600 kg.
