Kolkata police issue stringent security measures, deploy 398 pickets for Holi

Key Highlights

• Each of these special pickets will be manned by six police personnel.
• The remaining 312 pickets will have three policemen each on duty.
• The highest concentration of police pickets will be in the port area, where 72 pickets will be deployed in view of past incidents and the movement of heavy vehicles.
• In addition, 36 pickets each will be set up in the south-eastern parts of the city and the southern suburbs to ensure smooth celebrations and traffic regulation.
• With a surge in crowds expected at river ghats during Dol, the police have also strengthened safety arrangements along the Ganga.
