Lib Dems set out plan to end 12-hour A&E waits

The Liberal Democrats have proposed a £1.5 billion plan to ensure patients in England are guaranteed admission or referral for treatment within 12 hours of arriving at A&E. Party leader Sir Ed Davey emphasized the need for a legal duty to reduce waiting times, citing the ongoing crisis in emergency care. The funding for this initiative would come from scrapping a UK-US pharmaceuticals deal, although the government maintains that recent investments in the NHS will eventually improve the situation.
