The game was the second annual lung cancer awareness game at Maplewood. Before the game, both Maplewood head coach Alisha Sheatz and Chief of Oncology Services at the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, Brian Karlovits, spoke about the cause. AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement"Alisha used to work at our cancer center, so when it became lung cancer awareness month, we thought of how can we help to make people aware of what is lung cancer awareness month and make them aware of what people can do for their screening process, but also as a fundraiser to help out with the Benevolent Fund that we have at the center," Karlovits said.
