- Sangma said that about 40 km of the 443-km border fencing remains incomplete, with issues such as population concerns, land acquisition, and court cases hindering progress.
- “We are taking necessary steps… I expect that very soon, because as I said, some of them are even having court cases, specially the West Jaintia Hills section, which is the largest, which is left unfenced,” he said.
- Underlining that border security remains a priority for the state, the Chief Minister said that the state government, along with the Border Security Force (BSF) and other agencies, is maintaining heightened vigilance along the international boundary.
- He said a high-level review meeting was held on December 24, 2025, which was attended by officials from various agencies, including the BSF and the Intelligence Bureau, to assess the border situation and strengthen coordination on security measures.
- “The government of Meghalaya, the BSF and all the agencies are very alert,” Sangma said.
