- During a meeting with the FCI chief in theSecretariat, Mr.
- Uttam Kumar Reddy explained that while the Centre has fixed a target of 30 LMT of parboiled rice for KMS 2024–25 (Kharif & Rabi), so far 17.06 LMT of parboiled rice, and 0.87 LMT of raw rice, has been delivered.
- Another 2.34 LMT of parboiled rice and 14.26 LMT of raw rice are yet to be supplied.
- The Civil Supplies Minister said given the suitability of the current Rabi season for parboiled rice, he urged FCI to sanction an additional 10–12 LMT quota.
- He also impressed upon the need for extra railway rakes to expedite movement, noting a shortfall of 13.5 LMT compared to last year.
