For Garrett, the record seemed out of reach not long ago. The former Defensive Player of the Year had only four sacks through the first six games of the season — still a healthy pace of 11 over a full season, but not nearly enough to force any conversations about a record. After Garrett erupted for 13 sacks in a span of four games, however, he has a more than realistic chance to beat the single-season record of 22.5.
