The separation came as North Sand Mountain was struggling the most. The Bison maintained a lead through a slump of 14 misses on 17 shot attempts into the second quarter. After a layup by senior forward Abby Shaffer, North Sand Mountain connected on five of its last eight shots to end the half, stretching its lead to 10 at the break. As the Bison heated up, the lead grew.
