- The 22-year-old from Odisha alleged that an assistant professor harassed her and filed a complaint with the varsity authorities and left for her hometown.
- The NSU’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), which took up the matter for probe, found the charges to be true and submitted a report, based on which a complaint was filed with the Tirupati West police station by its Registrar in-charge against the assistant professor.
- The accused faces charges under sections 75 (1) for sexual harassment, 77 for voyeurism, 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 351 (2) r/w 3(5) of BNS Act.
- Meanwhile, the university was also left red-faced for its alleged inaction for nearly twelve days, as its Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee reportedly remained mum on the complaint filed by the victim to the warden on November 24.
- In the complaint, the woman accused the assistant professor of possessing their intimate videos and then resorting to blackmailing and sexual harassment.
