Pakistan, which has been invited by US President Donald Trump to join Gaza's 'Board of Peace', found itself under an unwelcome global spotlight at the World Economic Forum in Davos — not for economic reforms or investment pitches, but over allegations of backing terrorism, extrajudicial killings of Pashtuns and a renewed crackdown in its restive northwest province. Pakistan's presence at the World Economic Forum in Davos was overshadowed by protests by the Pashtun Tahafuzz Movement (PTM). The PTM held a peaceful demonstration along with local human rights activists against Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistani Army for being allegedly involved in the brutal killings and enforced disappearances of Pashtun people.
