Pakistan's disappointing performance, which did not allow them to go past the Super 8 stage of the current ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, has led to harsh criticism of the players and coaching staff, with calls to remove star batter Babar Azam from the T20I team and sack captain Salman Agha. Aleem Dar, the first well-known victim of the World Cup fiasco, is said to have resigned from Pakistan's national selection committee amid the criticism. After the team's poor performances, especially at the World Cup, where they also lost to co-hosts and reigning champions India, Dar, a former international umpire, resigned from the selection panel, according to sources in the Pakistani media. Dar who oversaw 435 international matches during his tenure, was selected to a redesigned selection panel along with Aqib Javed, Azhar Ali, and Hasan Cheema. The World Cup team has reportedly been fined heavily by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their poor performance in Sri Lanka.
