Multiple reports on Friday evening say Terry Smith will remain on the football staff on a new contract, ensuring Campbell will have one of the most well-respected football staff members helping with the transition. Smith was picking up some interest for a head coaching opportunity from UConn and Memphis, as each school was looking to replace its head coaches who have accepted offers elsewhere. Smith has served Penn State as the interim head coach since the firing of James Franklin, who has surfaced at Virginia Tech.
