Yet, as spring training opened up, MLB insider Chris Cotillo of MassLive reported on Friday that the Pirates are showing interest in former Baltimore Orioles infielder Emmanuel Rivera. AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“Free agency update: Pirates looking at infield depth options and have been in talks with Emmanuel Rivera, source says,” Cotillo wrote on X. Rivera spent last season with the Orioles and has also played with the Miami Marlins and Kansas City Royals. The 29-year-old is a veteran bench infielder who can play both third and first base. At this stage of his career, Rivera is more of a bench player who can hit for contact and get on base.
