On a night when Canton dedicated the court at Ingersoll Gymnasium to Dave Downey, the man widely considered school’s best player ever, Morton beat Canton, 59-40. Downey, a 1959 Canton graduate, went on to the University of Illinois where he graduated as the Illini career scoring leader.
