Productive talks with Centre on finances, apple imports & power issues: Himachal CM

• The Chief Minister said that the union Finance Minister had also assured positive consideration of the State’s request for additional borrowing of two per cent of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to strengthen its financial position.
• He further stated that the concerns of apple orchardists were also raised during the meeting.
• The Chief Minister said he strongly flagged the issue of apple imports from New Zealand, which have adversely impacted local growers.
• He informed that similar concerns were discussed with union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.
• According to the Chief Minister, the union Commerce Minister assured that the Centre would explore measures to restrict apple imports during Himachal Pradesh’s peak production season from July to November.
