The Athletic’s Chandler Rome said on the “Crush City Territory” podcast that talks have “intensified” around the Houston Astros trading Isaac Paredes. Rome identified the Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates as two teams that have shown “legitimate and aggressive interest” in the All-Star third baseman, but as many as five clubs could be pursuing him. Paredes and first baseman Christian Walker have surfaced as the most likely trade candidates, but the younger and less expensive Paredes is a more valuable option. The Astros reporter believes the Red Sox make “so much sense” for a Paredes trade because they can afford to deal a major leaguer.
