Reports of an “active shooter” emerged from Savannah on Thursday after police responded to calls about an armed man near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Bay Street on Wednesday. The Savannah Police Department said it was responding to reports of an armed individual, while nearby institutions, including Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), warned students and staff to remain cautious. The police later shared an update stating, "Savannah Police are responding to a police-involved shooting in downtown Savannah.
