Telangana Forensic Lab fire in Hyderabad’s Nampally leads to traffic diversions

Key Highlights

• Firefighting units from the Assembly, Secretariat, Gandhi Outpost, Secunderabad and Langar Houz were pressed into service to contain the blaze.
• Abids Station Fire Officer, Pardeep Kumar, said the fire originated in the computer room located on the first floor of the G+2 building.
• Preliminary findings suggest that the blaze may have been triggered by a short circuit, although the exact cause is yet to be established.
• According to Hyderabad District Fire Officer–2 Ajmeera Sreedas, enquiry with the staff revealed that the first floor housed physical evidence, including case-related samples and documents along with computer systems which were damaged in the fire.
• He added that the blaze did not spread to the second floor, where chemicals are kept, averting a potentially more serious situation.
