After announcing yesterday that he would enter the transfer portal, Texas sophomore cornerback Kobe Black has announced that he will be withdrawing his name from the transfer portal and remaining with the program. Black is a former five-star recruit, who after seeing action in more of a reserve role his first two years on campus looks primed for a bigger role in 2026. One of Black’s most memorable plays of the season was his interception of Texas A&M’s Marcel Reed to help secure the upset of then undefeated Texas A&M back in November. Texas recently landed Rutgers defensive back Bo Mascoe out of the transfer portal to help bolster the depth at corner, and now the staff has successfully been able to retain Black to further help in the effort. Like with the linebacker position, the defensive back position for Texas suffered loses in departures from guys like Malik Muhammad and Michael Taaffe.
