Despite outshooting its opponent 37-25 on the night and starting up 2-0 after the first 27 minutes, the Scarecrows allowed Zydeco to score three unanswered goals in the final 23 minutes, spoiling what looked to be Topeka’s night. It wasn’t Bird’s last assist, as he and Checco both helped Douglas Blaisdell record the second goal of the night seven minutes into the second period. It would be the last time a Scarecrow puck hit the back of the net. With less than three minutes left, Zydeco’s Scott Shorrock put Baton Rouge on the board.
