Tomahawks crown Mountain Kings with six-goal second period

Jack Genovese’s power-play marker – with help from Emerson Marshall and Kalib Capecci – at 5:05 of the first gave Johnstown a 1-0 lead, and also sent more than 650 stuffed toys to the ice as part of the team’s teddy bear toss promotion. The team’s official count was 677. AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementJohnstown got goals in the second period from Sean Leetch (shorthanded, 1:11), William Stewart (power-play, 3:32), Nick Metelkin (power-play, 8:05), Marshall (11:38), Peter Morris (12:23) and Charlie Zetterkvist (shorthande, 15:23) to surge to a 7-3 lead after 40 minutes. Zetterkvist added another shorthanded goal at 15:20 of the third to set the final. Capecci helped to set up four Johnstown goals. New Hampshire’s Tanner Anctil, Cael Knutson and Jaden Johnson scored, with Johnson’s gaol happening with the Mountain Kings up a skater with 30 seconds left in the middle frame. Nikita Oleksiienko stopped 29 shots in the win. Johnstown returns home at 7 p. m.
