The Moccasins would strike first on the power play with the goal from Andrew Bellant to make it 1-0 early. AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementMonroe would strike again early in the second with a goal from Kyler Matthews. Bellant picks up his second point of the night with the assist. A high-sticking penalty for Monroe’s Frank Schumacher would help the Scarecrows reach the back of the net for the first time Friday night, as Connor Lind scored with the man-advantage. Less than a minute later, the Moccasins respond with a Carlos Fornaris goal to increase its lead to 3-1. Bellant picked up another point on the assist, his third of the night. Yianni Liarakos strikes midway through the third for the Moccasins, making it 4-1 Monroe. A late power play would help Cameron Clark find the back of the net with the extra attacker to make things 4-2, but the momentum wasn’t enough to see the Scarecrows mount a comeback.
