Use film-style age ratings to limit teens' social media, say Lib Dems

The Liberal Democrats have proposed implementing film-style age ratings for social media to restrict access for minors. Their plan would designate platforms with addictive algorithms or inappropriate content for users over 16, while those featuring graphic violence or pornography would be rated for users 18 and older. This initiative aims to mitigate the negative consequences of a complete ban on under-16s using social media, a stance also considered by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.
