President Donald Trump has taken legal action against one of America's biggest banks, filing a lawsuit that accuses JPMorgan Chase and its longtime CEO, Jamie Dimon, of unfairly shutting down his accounts and those of his related businesses. The case, lodged on Thursday in a state court in Miami-Dade County, Florida, demands at least $5 billion in damages and centers on events that unfolded back in early 2021. The dispute goes back to February 2021, shortly after the January 6 Capitol riot involving Trump supporters and just weeks before Trump left office following his election defeat to Joe Biden. According to the complaint, JPMorgan informed Trump and his affiliated entities, including some hospitality companies, that their long-standing accounts would be closed, providing roughly 60 days' notice.
