Delhi to get permanent relief from waterlogging, construction of 4 major trunk drains underway

Key Highlights

• To address drainage issues in the Kirari, Mundka, Bawana and Nangloi Assembly constituencies of West Delhi, a 4.5 kilometre long trunk drain is proposed to be constructed parallel to the railway line.
• The project is being implemented by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department.
• The estimated cost of the drain is Rs.
• 220.93 crore, and it has been designed to handle rainwater from a large catchment area of 1,520 acres.
• The discharge capacity of the drain has been fixed at 760 cusecs to ensure uninterrupted drainage even during peak monsoon rainfall.
