Golden Knights put up ‘burn the tape’ game against Flames

Key Highlights

• Calgary defenseman Yan Kuznetsov was able to fire a slapshot past Schmid, but Adam Klapka ran him while the play was ongoing.
• However, due to the goal being scored prior to the contact, the goal stood with no goalie interference. Just as the game was getting away, however, the Golden Knights were able to strike back.
• Mark Stone was able to find Reilly Smith on a breakaway, who was able to beat Devin Cooley with a deke to his backhand for his fourth goal of the season. Unfortunately, the Golden Knights gave the momentum back on a poor defensive play.
• Allowing two players to get behind everyone, Vegas could only watch as Ryan Lomberg finished an odd-man rush to get a two-goal lead back to Calgary. AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe second period did not get much better.
• Mikael Backlund put his second of the game early, and a shorthanded goal from Joel Farabee put the Golden Knights on the wrong end of a blowout. Kaedan Korczak did his part to make the game look better, though.
