First-year coach Anthony Agosti took over a Spartans’ program that just one year prior had won a mere four games. Now, after Friday night, they’re 9-6 and 5-4 in league on the season and are within striking distance of a District 11 playoff spot. AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe Spartans came out strong in the first quarter of the Schuylkill League Division I contest, jumping out to an 8-2 lead in the first quarter, which included three-pointers from both Caden Mengel and Julian Nelson. The Spartans grew the lead to 15-5 by the end of the first frame as Nelson led the way with eight points of his game-high 16 points in the win. The Spartans, after their strong opening quarter of play, looked well-equipped to win in dominating fashion throughout the second quarter.
