Story byPhil Harrison, Buckeyes WireFri, January 16, 2026 at 2:51 AM UTC·1 min readOhio State head coach Ryan Day has started to get some work done in the transfer portal for the football program over the last few days. We saw a couple of defensive backs commit to the Buckeyes on Thursday, but we also received word on a very experienced running back from SEC country deciding to make Columbus home. That came by way of former Florida running back Ja'Kobi Jackson, who will have a seventh year of eligibility when he makes his way to the banks of the Olentangy next year. Originally hailing from Pensacola, Florida, Jackson was ranked as a 3-star prospect coming out of the JUCO ranks at Coahoma Community College in Pensacola, where he rushed for 1,390 yards and 14 touchdowns in three seasons.
