- Quinta Brunson will receive Variety’s Creative Showrunner Award, an honor previously given to the Duffer brothers, Charlotte Stoudt, Jen Statsky, Paul W.
- Downs and Lucia Aniello, and Sterlin Harjo.
- Brunson will be the first actor to receive the honor, as both the star and creator of the ABC hit “Abbott Elementary.” In 2022, she became the first solo Black woman to win the Emmy for comedy writing; the following year, she became the first Black actress to win lead comedy actress in over 40 years — and the second ever.
