Key Highlights
- Any player named on at least 75 percent of the ballots will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this summer alongside Jeff Kent, who was elected in December by the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee. There are no locks on the BBWAA ballot in 2026, but Carlos Beltran has the best shot to make the cut after appearing on 70.3% of ballots in 2025.
- Players who get that close usually get a bump the following year, and it seems a foregone conclusion the former outfielder will cross the threshold soon. The other realistic possibility for induction this year is Andruw Jones, who reached 66.2% a year ago, but he doesn't have the luxury of time like Beltran.
- If the longtime Braves star doesn't get to 75% this year, 2027 will be his last chance to make it in on the writers' ballot. Among first-time candidates for 2026, Cole Hamels has the strongest argument and should comfortably remain on the ballot for future elections but he likely will face a long road to potential induction.
