Published - February 17, 2026 11:15 am IST - CHENNAI IIT Madras and Finnish Meteorological Institute are joining hands to start a virtual research centre to better understand how aerosols influence regional climate. The facility will focus on advanced simulations to observe Himalayan snow and glacier melting, urban quality in Indian metros, and regional hydro-climate. The facility will be known as VAYYU, Virtual Research Centre on Aerosol-Meteorology Interactions, Himalayan Atmosphere-Cryosphere Interactions, and Urban Air.
